CNN —The Brooklyn Nets have relieved head coach Jacque Vaughn of his duties, the team said in a statement, with the franchise set to name an interim replacement in the “near future.”Amid earlier reports that Vaughn had been fired, the Nets released a statement on Monday confirming the decision. The team is 21-33 this season and currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference, just outside of a Play-In Tournament spot. “This was an incredibly difficult decision, but one we feel is in the best interest of the team going forward,” Nets General Manager Sean Marks said. Vaughn, 49, was in his second year as head coach after being promoted from assistant in 2022. “Jacque has represented this organization with exemplary character and class for the past eight years,” Marks added.

CNN —Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving said that he is “not going to stand down on anything I believe in” after he was condemned by the owner of his NBA team for tweeting a link to a documentary deemed to be antisemitic. “I’m disappointed that Kyrie appears to support a film based on a book full of anti-semitic disinformation,” Nets owner Joe Tsai tweeted Friday night.
